Hello Fellow Anglers, it’s time for our weekly fishing report!

Upper and Middle Bay

The Perch are pushing deeper and deeper into their normal summer spots. They’re continuing to be caught in all rivers, especially now with the water warming up in shallows.Catfishing is still going strong, with a HUGE increase of cats being caught out of Sandy Point and Matapeake. The usual go to is cut bait, specifically Bunker. Unfortunately, the shad fishing is slowing down due to the decrease in water levels, so you’ll start to notice the bite will get tougher in places like Fletcher’s Bout House and Red Bridges.

South

Catfish are still as present as ever. With rockfish being closed, they’re a great alternative. Just like above, Bunker is ALWAYS a solid go to. However, chicken liver with a top and bottom rig works great as well if you’re trying to add a bit of variety. Specs have been caught here and there but are not quite in full force yet. As the water warms up, more and more will return back to shore.

Crabbing

Crabbing hasn’t entirely picked up yet. Most crabbing is happening in the southern parts of the bay, at around 15-20 feet deep. The current water temperature this week has hit around 65 Fahrenheit, so as the water gets warmer, crabbing conditions will improve!

Coastal

Coastal fishing is SUPER consistent now! Tautog are still being crushed in the Back Bay area! Blackdrum, Rockfish, and Bluefish can be found along Assateague, and are biting in the plenty!
