Keep in mind that those under the age of 16 do not need a Maryland Sport Crabbing License. However, they can purchase a recreational crab license if they want to catch the bushel of crabs (which is what is allowed with that license). How To Set A Trotline

Crabbing in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries is a way of life in Maryland. Every year from April through December folks are eager to get out on the water, toss in a line, and hook a few of Maryland’s most delicious crustacean.

Our latest video has great crabbing tips from Captain Mike, from how to set a trotline to a yummy recipe for steaming up your catch. Advice, such as, icing down your crabs for 10 minutes before cooking because it will keep the crabs intact as you steam them. Or, interesting facts, like did you know a bushel of crabs weighs 40 lbs?
