The Anglers Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report has ARRIVED!
Upper and Middle Bay
- The Susquehanna is providing the most excellent Blue Catfishing Anglers have seen all year! With these invasive fish, you can keep as many as you’d like with no size limit on them, so Anglers are filling freezers with these tasty fish! The most effective baits are cut baits such as Alewife or Soft Crab!
- With the cooling water temperatures, the baitfish are beginning to leave tidal rivers all around the upper and middle bay areas. Anglers are having huge success near the mouths of tidal rivers as the Striped Bass being to target these Peanut Bunker caught in the tides! Most Anglers are catching Stripers on jigs with a soft plastic or while trolling!
- The dropping water temperature has not effected the White Perch Fishing! Anglers are still catching them in large numbers using small spinners and spoons around shallow structure! For the bigger White Perch, anglers are using Chesapeake Sibiki Rigs or bottom rigs tipped with live or artificial bait!
South Bay
- With the cooler water present in the south bay, Anglers are catching Striped Bass all along Channel edges and mouths of the southern bay rivers!
- Areas around Tangier and Pocomoke Sound as well as bay shores is an excellent place to catch multiple species of fish such as Striped Bass, Speckled Trout, and even Reddrum!
- Spot are beginning to migrate out of the bay as the water temperatures begin to cool down! Anglers are still catching them on bottom rigs however they’re beginning to notice the numbers dropping!
